La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro

Symbolic Weddings on La Palma, La Gomera & El Hierro

Some couples are not looking for the most famous island, but for somewhere quieter, more natural and more personal. La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro each have a very different character and can therefore offer beautiful settings for symbolic weddings, elopements and intimate destination weddings.

As a wedding celebrant, I also accompany couples on these three western Canary Islands with ceremonies in English, German or Spanish and, of course, in multilingual formats.

I have grouped the three islands on one page not because they are the same, but because they are particularly well suited to couples looking for nature, tranquillity, smaller celebrations and a more immersive island experience.

Which of the Three Islands Suits You?

La Palma – Green, Volcanic & Spectacular

A symbolic wedding on La Palma is particularly well suited to couples who love intense natural landscapes. Forests, volcanic scenery, mountains, dark coastlines and wide views come together on an original and diverse island.

La Palma can be especially beautiful for elopements and smaller weddings where nature and the shared experience matter more than a large wedding programme.

La Gomera – Laurel Forests, Valleys & Tranquillity

A symbolic wedding on La Gomera has a completely different atmosphere. Deep ravines, green valleys, ancient forests, palm trees and striking rock formations create an almost hidden island feeling.

The island is particularly well suited to couples who want an intimate ceremony with only a few people and plenty of tranquillity.

El Hierro – Wild, Quiet & Authentic

A symbolic wedding on El Hierro is for couples who deliberately choose a small and unconventional destination. Volcanic coastlines, forests, open highlands and viewpoints give the island a character of its own.

Here, the focus is less on large wedding infrastructure and much more on sharing an experience in a special place.

Elopement or Small Destination Wedding?

La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro are particularly well suited to couples who consciously want to celebrate on a smaller scale. An elopement, a ceremony with your closest people or a trip where the wedding becomes part of the entire island experience can work especially beautifully here.

Larger celebrations are also possible, although accommodation, transport, venue and supplier availability should be planned early on the smaller islands.

Multilingual Ceremonies on the Smaller Islands

I conduct ceremonies in English, German or Spanish and, of course, also in multilingual formats. Especially when a small group travels from different countries, language can become a particularly beautiful way of connecting everyone.

Respecting Nature & Planning Well

Many of the most impressive landscapes are protected. A beautiful view does not automatically mean that a wedding can take place there. Together we choose a location that suits you while also respecting local regulations and the natural environment.

Logistics also play a greater role on smaller islands: travel, accommodation, equipment and possible additional overnight stays should be planned well in advance. In return, the entire experience can feel considerably quieter and more personal.
